Cheese and Sausage Strata
Quick and easy to assemble, this casserole can be made up to a day ahead of time, then baked just before you are ready to serve.

Ingredients
- 12 oz Italian style pork or turkey sausage , casings removed
- 1 tsp Amore Garlic Paste
- 6 oz Italian bread , cut into 1-inch cubes (about 5 cups)
- 4 oz sliced provolone cheese , torn into strips
- 4 tbsp Amore Tomato Paste
- 1-1/2 cups milk
- salt and pepper to taste
- 6 eggs
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, stirring often to break up any lumps. Stir in the Amore Garlic Paste.
- Put half of the bread in a buttered 8-inch square baking dish. With a slotted spoon, add the sausage. Arrange the provolone on top. Cover with the remaining bread.
- In a bowl, whisk together the Amore Tomato Paste, milk, a pinch of salt and pepper to taste. Beat in the eggs. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread. Sprinkle with the parmesan cheese.
- Cover and refrigerate one hour or overnight. Uncover the dish and bake in a preheated 350°F oven 30 minutes. If the top is getting too brown, cover it with foil. Bake 10 minutes more or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean. Serve hot.
